My favorite part of my job is seeing the progress over time after connecting a family to services. I came to Allegheny Children’s Initiative because of the renowned uplifting culture and stay for joy -and hope I can create for the families alongside which I work.
I will always be proud of the work we did when a family came to us in shambles. Everything in their life seemed to be crumbling, from financial ruin to a housing crisis. I worked in collaboration with leadership to ensure that every possible connection was provided for this family to help them get back on their feet. We were able to connect them with housing assistance, utility assistance, obtaining a school-based therapist and connecting with a psychiatrist. While there is still progress to be made, the impact we worked hard for paid off and showed them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
