Since working for Allegheny Children’s Initiative, I have realized I have a passion working with transition-age youth. I have recently opened with a new young person supported who is sixteen years-old and mother reported she never opens up to new providers. At the initial intake where I started to build rapport and get to know them, they stated “They are looking forward to working with me and are excited that I am their Service Coordinator.” On a later date mother then reached out to me stating: ” My daughter has never looked forward to meetings and is counting down the days until you are back in the home.” In my role as a Service Coordinator this is very humbling that the connections I am making with transition-age youth is making an impact on how they view services.
Favorite part of my job:
My favorite part of the job is being able to successfully find services and supports for my consumers and their families. I came to work at Allegheny Children’s Initiative to work first-hand with the families and get them the supports they need.
